This is called BPL is being tested now. Is coming soon to an electric plug near you?
Imagine this:
You plug your BPL modem socket in every power at your house and you go back directly connected to high speed broadband ISP. Sounds too good to be true?
Maybe... maybe not.
BPL seems to be more than the benefits to Africa.
The Pros
Besides the fact that almost every house in the country connected to the power grid, a new and exciting technology offers several advantages over broadband Internet service at the connection.
First is the fact that no professional installation or additional cables will be needed in your home. True plug-and-play technology.
Another interesting aspect of BPL is that any devices connected to the electric power distribution networks. That means that BPL could allow electric chip in every device talking to every person. Very simple and cost-effective than putting a wireless chip in each Appliance.
Consider the possibility if an alarm clock, lamp, water heater and coffee maker can talk to each other! Or how about these events: you unpack and install your new flat-panel TV and direct connect to cable box, DVD player, your Home Theater system and the Internet.
Even more aspects of communication, offering BPL electricity rates because it can provide the power grid of mind that all of a safer and more reliable. Which in turn can lead to less pollution and reduce electricity costs.
The Cons
Organizations on the ground Verse carrying BPL signals can also act as an antenna and cause interference with radio frequencies and radio, emergency, military and police radio, Ham radio and shortwave broadcasts. This may intervene in the debate about whether or not the FCC should allow the existence of BPL.
How Broadband Over Power Lines Work
There are two different technologies in development: Access BPL and In house BPL.
Access BPL
Access BPL is to combine the principles of radio technology, wireless networks, and modems. Admission is between using the power cable to carry around 7.200 volts (is that you see on the top of the electric posts) brings broadband Internet traffic. This can send data through electric wires and into homes at broadband speeds between 500 kilobits and 3 megabits per second are now compared to the cable modem and DSL broadband speeds.
But changing the power grid stable, high-speed system of data transmission is very difficult.
They are receiving electricity lines between the lines, only one of the electricity. There are also generators, High Voltage lines, substations and transformers that help bring electric power from the plant all the plug. And all the interventions and data transmission.
So BPL bypasses the first high revenue using either electrical or fiber optic phone lines to inject into the center of power-grid data receiving downstream. However, before the data can only run so far from destroyed. Thus, special equipment (called repeaters) are installed on the lines take the data and strengthen the next leg of the journey.
Also there is no way to run a clean data signal through a transformer. Overcome this, a BPL system uses two other devices, a bridge coupler and the distribution of Internet traffic. Was mounted on a utility pole and allows data to pass through a transformer attached to the natural verses your house reception. There are also wireless systems revenue fell bypass lane.
From there the access BPL uses a special modem that is about the size of a normal AC ADAPTER. Plugs only in 110 Volt wall socket and has an Ethernet cable connected to your computer (a wireless version is also available). BPL modems use silicon chips designed to send a strong signal on the reception line between information from a variety of 110 volt electrical current. This is available today and some electricity companies in over 26 countries secretly making plans to court.
In-house BPL
BPL network in the engine house at your home or office. BPL products at home can easily consider the radiation emission limits listed in Section 15 of the FCC Rules, because they deal directly with the electric lines of the reception at home or office. This technology has nothing to do and especially to connect to the Internet and is available in stores now.
BPL is coming soon to a neighborhood?
Bottom line ... Don t count on it! At least not immediately. Radio interference problems serious enough that at least one company is forced to remove the pilot organization plans premature.
This idea will die? Don t count on the good. The concept has been quite useful and the possibility that BPL services developers and investors refuse to surrender the same. And the characters are likely to continue until the FCC says no way.
